Never waste a drop: Top 3 most refreshing Summer Wine Drinks to use left over wine.

Summer is here, hooray!! This year has seen temperatures soaring and heat waves a plenty. 2017 is set to be another very warm year globally. So what are you waiting for? Paddling pool filled check! Sunbeds out? check! Sun cream on? check! And so you are armed and ready for the Summer, bar one thing, a nice, refreshing drink of course.  Think long, chilled cocktails, frozen Sangria’s and sparkling spritzers. Mmmmmm, perfect!

Summer drinks should be fun, light and most importantly refreshing, and of course if you can recycle some of the leftover wine from yesterday’s barbecue, well what more could you ask for?

So let’s take a look at the 3 most refreshing Summer Wine Drinks.

Sangria

Arguably Spain’s most famous drink, traditional Sangria is made of a combination of red wine (traditionally a Rioja), fresh, chopped fruits such as oranges, lemons, pineapples and apples (to name but a few), it is then sweetened with sugar and orange juice. Based on this very traditional Spanish drink, we can now find a large array of ‘Sangria’ recipes, each and everyone fantastic for long Summer days.

The people at BuzzfeedTasty have come up with the perfect solution to both hot Summer days and left over wine with these recipes for four, frozen, fruity, beautiful Sangrias; Strawberry Lemonade, Raspberry Peach, Mixed Berry and Mango Pineapple. All so quick and simple to make and most of the ingredients we all have lying around at home, wonderful!

And if you don’t fancy a frozen Sangria, you could always give a more traditional Sangria recipe a go. Take a look at this recipe for Sparkling Rosé Sangria, or this one for Sparkling Rhubarb Apple Sangria. The possibilities are endless!

Wine Spritzer

The Classic White Wine Spritzer is the basis of all good spritzers. Light, delicate and elegant, it is everything we could ever ask for in a Summer drink. But do not be fooled by it’s rather simple, if not old-fashioned reputation. From this classic drink a rather large selection of delicious, fruity, refreshing Spritzers have evolved. Why not try this rather delicious looking Mixed Berry Spritzer recipe for example? Not a berry fan? No problem, this Pomegranate and Lime White Wine Spritzer might just tickle your fancy. Still not convinced? How does a Mojito Wine Spritzer sound? Heaven, I know.

Wine Cocktails

Where to start here. There are literally hundreds of wine cocktails to be made, now while that sounds like quite a challenge, let’s start with a Frosé (Frozen Rosé). Think elegant, frozen and refreshing and you’re beginning to get the idea. Bonappetit.com advises the use of a full-flavored, full-bodied, dark-colored rosé for freezing. It will lose some of its color and will be a bit diluted after freezing and blending; you want something that can hold its own for this cocktail. To your Rosé add sugar, strawberries and lemon juice and there you have it, a super simple Summer cocktail.

Or how does the sound of Peach Prosecco Party Punch grab you? There is something about bubbles and fizz that is truly Summery, and this recipe will not disappoint.

If you’re more of a lover of red wine why not try a Sparkling Red Wine Cocktail? Rich in anti-oxidants, this sweet, sparkling cocktail can’t be bad for you right?

And remember, whether your wine be sparkling or still, you can always find the perfect solution to your left over wine problems, with an Avina  wine bottle stopper or Avina premium Champagne stopper. So now there truly is no reason to ever waste a drop again.

Happy Summer!!
