Hosted by drinkup.London, London Wine Week is a young and innovative event, that should be a must for anyone and everyone interested in wine, wanting to learn more about it, or those who simply enjoy drinking it. It is the wine lover’s heaven.
With over 100 bars, opening up their doors and inviting us in, this Summer festival takes place all across the capital. Find everything from flights of wine and delicious food pairings, to bespoke events happening each and every day, pop-up wine bars, al fresco brunches, Champagne dinners and even an entire pop-up vineyard created to sip wines in the heart of Bethnal Green.
Here we will run through just a few of the many events planned for this wonderful week long celebration of wine!
Learn to Wine & Dine with WSET

Unleash your inner sommelier this London Wine Week with a WSET education in food and wine pairing.
Hosted in the private dining suite of the vibrant Covent Garden Hotel, WSET Educator Michelle Cherutti-Kowal MW will guide you through WSET’s principals of pairing wine with food.
Over a meal of beautifully crafted Thai cuisine, learn how the major flavours in your food affect your enjoyment of wine and break down the skill of deciphering a wine list.

Meet the Winemaker – Tenuta Di Fessina Dinner

Located on Mount Etna, in Rovittello,Tenuta di Fessina winery works mainly with local varieties producing beautiful Italian wine. For this year’s LWW Laila from from the winery has packed her cases full of delectable vintages and departed from London where she’ll be joining the Honest Grapes team for an exquisite dinner at the exclusive private members club, Blacks in Soho.
Delicious Sicilian food will accompany outstanding wines grown on the slopes of the mountain while Laila, and her co-host Claire, the fine wine expert, will provide us all with interesting and entertaining insights throughout the evening.

Big Bottles at Beast with Champagne Pol Roger

At Pol Roger, they like large formats; not only because they look far better but also because the champagne tends to mature more slowly. A slower maturation process means that the wine develops more complexity over a longer period of time.
The Beast dinner gives you a chance to taste a number of cuvees from three different large formats; magnum, jeroboam and methuselah, and in a suitably spectacular setting.

Wine Car Boot 2017

Join Wine Car Boot this London Wine Week as it pulls up in Kings Cross! This fun event is essentially a car boot sale but instead of vintage junk each boot is representing an independent wine shop from London. The merchants rock up with their current favourite wines and you get to taste them, buy them, drink them right there and then or take them home and enjoy whenever you fancy.
It’s not just boots full of wine however, Wine Car Boot is a great day out with good food and music so if you choose to stay and pop a few corks there’s ambience by the bucket load.

Loire Valley Brunch at Sager & Wilde

Rounding off the London Wine Week festivities with a spectacular Sunday, Loire Valley Wines will be taking over the Sager + Wilde mezzanine for a food and drink pairing with a difference. Led by wine expert Lindsay Oram, guests will be able to try some of the region’s finest wines whilst the Sager + Wilde chefs serve up a delicious brunch menu to complement.
The perfect way to while away a Sunday afternoon, guests will also have access to a special menu of Loire Valley Wines being served all day.
